Right of Withdrawal & Returns

Note: The German version of this withdrawal notice is the legally binding version. This English translation is provided for convenience and information purposes only.

Right of withdrawal

Consumers within the meaning of § 13 BGB have the right to withdraw from this contract within fourteen (14) days without giving any reason. The withdrawal period is fourteen days: • for purchase contracts for books, media or other goods, from receipt of the goods, • for multiple partial deliveries, from receipt of the last partial delivery, • for digital content, in accordance with the statutory provisions. The statutory right of withdrawal also applies to pre-orders. The period only begins upon receipt of the goods.

Consequences of withdrawal

We will refund all payments made, including the costs of the cheapest standard delivery, within fourteen days of receipt of your withdrawal. You bear the direct costs of returning the goods, unless otherwise agreed. Please include the order number where possible. This makes processing easier but is not a requirement for an effective withdrawal.

Special notes on digital content

IstanbulBooks offers in particular e-books, PDF publications, digital specialist publications, audiobooks and digital content offered in the future. The right of withdrawal expires early if: • you have expressly agreed that we begin performance before the end of the withdrawal period, • you have confirmed that you thereby lose your right of withdrawal, • and we have provided you with this confirmation on a durable medium.

Statutory exclusions

There is no right of withdrawal in particular for goods made to individual specifications, unsealed audio/video media or software, certain hygiene items, and newspapers and magazines (except subscriptions), where the statutory requirements are met.

International orders

Mandatory consumer protection provisions of the state of your habitual residence remain unaffected by this withdrawal notice.

Returning goods

After an effective withdrawal, the goods must be returned without delay and no later than within fourteen (14) days. Please return the goods as complete as possible, including accessories and – where possible – in the original packaging. However, this is not a requirement for an effective withdrawal. Return costs

Unless otherwise agreed, you bear the direct costs of returning the goods. If we voluntarily provide a return label, no costs arise for you.

Damaged or incorrectly delivered items

Please check your delivery upon receipt. In the case of damaged or incorrectly delivered items, please contact us at info@istanbulbooks.com. Your statutory warranty rights remain unaffected.

Digital products

For digital content that has already been provided (e.g. e-books, PDF publications or audiobooks), a return is technically not possible. The statutory provisions on the right of withdrawal apply.

Refunds

After receipt of your withdrawal declaration and – where required – after receipt or proof of the return shipment, the refund is made without delay and no later than within fourteen (14) days. Repayment is generally made via the same payment method used for the order. No additional costs arise for this. In the event of an effective withdrawal, we refund the costs of the cheapest standard delivery. Additional costs for express or special shipping are not refunded. In the case of partial withdrawals, the refund covers only the returned items and the shipping costs to be refunded by law. If a pre-order is withdrawn before dispatch, we refund payments already made without delay via the payment method originally used. If the right of withdrawal for digital content has already expired due to the statutory requirements, there is no entitlement to a refund.
